HDCH

Hamilton District Christian High School has been a thriving learning community in the Hamilton area for over 60 years. We are an independent, faith-based school that believes educating teenagers involves more than passing on information. An HDCH education is like no other. Exceptional teachers investing in students makes all the difference to student engagement. We want to see our students grow: to increase in competence and character; to develop creativity and reflection; to critique and create culture—in all of their classes and extracurricular pursuits.

We invest heavily in our school culture. Come walk through our halls sometime to see for yourself. Our school climate is rooted in building positive relationships with students. Our staff hold high expectations and provide high support for all students, journeying the high school years with them. Just ask our students – our teachers are not only highly knowledgeable in their fields of study, but also work hard to support each student and meet individual learning needs.

We approach classroom teaching through Project Based Learning. Students are given meaningful tasks, engage in ongoing inquiry involving experts, apply their learning to real-world situations, and use their learning and projects to improve and bless the greater Hamilton area and beyond. Because our learning is so closely connected to our community, we do a lot of field trips, frequently visiting experts in many different subject areas. On top of these academic field trips, HDCH also has a variety of sports teams and student clubs that require our teachers to be out of the building.

This is where you come in!

Occasional Teacher

You love teenagers.  You have an active Christian faith. You have a passion for excellent education. You are creative, flexible and a team-player. You have your OCT certification and are eager to use it. You are familiar with Project Based Learning…or are excited to learn about it. You value positive relationships over power-based compliance.

Come join our team as an occasional teacher. We are looking to add to our ‘regulars’ who are working as occasional teachers, and are a highly valued and integral part of our staff team.

Our occasional teachers cover between one to four lines of class a day – we aim to give you as full a day as possible. Occasional teachers are provided with lesson plans and deliver them, providing differentiated support as necessary. Occasional teachers are compensated $50 per line, so leave with up to $200 for the day, along with the warm, wonderful feeling of having made a difference in the lives of many teenagers.

Come Join our Team

How can you join us, you ask? Provide your resume and a cover letter that describes your passion for and philosophy on learning/education and how your faith is woven into that. Please include a minimum of two references we have your permission to contact.

We will be adding to our team on an ongoing basis, so please keep your resume updated and an eye out for us contacting you for an interview.
